Water care business optimizes team productivity to generate higher revenue with Dynamics 365 Business Central

Based in Prague, Aquashield Europe is a startup spin-off coming from Philips that designs, manufactures, and sells water purification solutions. Led by its vision to be the vanguard for providing technology that provides higher quality usable water, the company looked for an integrated enterprise resource planning (ERP) system to focus on developing great products and services. Using Dynamics 365 Business Central, Aquashield Europe can now manage its finance, purchasing, warehouse management, and sales with only small team catering to hundreds of clients in Europe.

Licensed by Phillips, Aquashield Europe offers various water purification solutions that cover green infrastructure development for people and businesses. The company started its journey in 2020—its strategy was to rely on technology from the start.

Speed, flexibility, and intuitive design

“We knew that we could be faster and more flexible than the competition with the right tools. Since our business model is complex—we sell in different currencies to different customers and are present on various platforms—we needed an advanced infrastructure that would support us and connect everything in one place,” says Jakub Grosman, CEO of Aquashield Europe.

Together with Microsoft Partner NAVERTICA, Aquashield explored several cloud solutions. “We chose Dynamics 365 Business Central because it was the only one that provided the flexibility we needed. It could also be implemented faster—we went live in 51 days, while the other solutions would have taken more than seven months,” says Grosman. “The system is advanced but still easy to use. We are here to run the business, not tools.”

Effective and fast services

The company successfully adapts to clients’ needs by leveraging Dynamics 365 Business Central’s flexibility. “As our business portfolio grows, we need to handle multiple customizations with one tool if we want to be effective. For example, one of our partners requires specific information on the invoices and others need something else,” says Grosman. “We have to be able to deal with all the small details efficiently across the board.”

Aquashield also streamlined its order and supply management via Dynamics 365, allowing it to manage its warehouses across Europe. “With the system, we can connect to external transportation companies that help us deliver goods as well as manage customs clearance effectively,” explains Grosman.

Automation has also helped the company become more productive, even with a small team. “In just three years, we gained €20 million (US$22 million) in revenue,” says Grosman. “We’re also able to service bigger clients since we have the system backing us up in managing multiple requests.”

Future-proofing with today's technology

In addition, Aquashield now collaborates more efficiently across its companies in Europe by using Microsoft 365 tools. “It’s important to have everything in the cloud when people are working remotely. We use Microsoft Teams daily for communication, and integrate that with Power BI for reporting,” says Grosman. “Power BI helps us track the parameters of the business such as shipping amounts and profit margins—these help us make better decisions for the future.”

Moving forward, Aquashield is already launching new product categories and plans to develop new B2B sales channels for specialized products. Moreover, the company wants to use technology to improve customer service. “We would like to implement service management into Dynamics 365 Business Central to have more control of the service network. This will also allow us to ensure the same standards are reached by our third-party service providers,” says Grosman. “We’ll continue to assess our systems and see what can be optimized or outsourced. It’s an ongoing process and that’s why we need the right tools and technology partner that we can rely on,” concludes Grosman.
