Answering the call to do more with less

When providing cloud services and governance, financial operations (FinOps) provides a structured approach to managing cloud costs and usage; it’s a framework for ensuring cloud consumption is aligned with business goals and priorities. As more organizations move workloads to the cloud, they require better visibility into and control over cloud consumption and costs to prevent overspending, enable accurate forecasting, and optimize resource utilization. In the current economy, there’s even more pressure to do more with less; global economic uncertainty means tighter budgets and increased scrutiny without compromising on performance.

Logicalis had long served customers using its in-house FinOps solutions. As the company grew, it needed a scalable multi-cloud solution that would provide granular budget management through cost guardrails, enable forecasting based on usage trends, identify cost optimization opportunities, and foster a culture of financial accountability.

As an enterprise with a global reach, Logicalis needed a global solution that would help them scale – one with a broader set of features and functions than its in-house platform could provide, including security operations (SecOps) and cloud operations (CloudOps) capabilities, so it could offer customers deeper insights and more value.

Creating the next generation of cloud governance using AI

After evaluating a number of tools, Logicalis chose CoreStack because of its off-the-shelf capabilities and the growth potential it would enable. CoreStack helps Logicalis “cloud with confidence” with its suite of next generation modules that use AI to provide continuous governance for FinOps, SecOps, and CloudOps. CoreStack’s platform is designed to be continuous, holistic, autonomous, integrated, and nimble, or as the company calls it, CHAIN.

Implementing the CoreStack solution and migrating users to the new portal was a multi-step process that began with initial deployment in a staging environment. After moving to production, Logicalis ran both portals in parallel for several months to ensure a smooth transition and minimize service interruption. This approach also gave Logicalis staff time to acclimate to the new portal. Logicalis worked closely with CoreStack during this phase, providing feedback and recommendations for customizing the platform.

Turning cloud governance capabilities into new lines of business

With the new FinOps portal, Logicalis is now able to offer customers new features and more robust reporting. For example, customers can see variance from previous months with one click and have access to forecasting data for the first time. Customers also have a wide range of customization options and can configure guardrails to help keep costs down.

CoreStack’s FinOps solution has impacted how Logicalis operates as a managed services provider. Each customer has their own use cases and wants visibility into different things; as a result, Logicalis decoupled its production-ready cloud (PRC) solution and now provides separate PRC FinOps and SecOps solutions, both powered by CoreStack.

This move expanded the Logicalis product portfolio. Its PRC solution is all-encompassing, while its PRC FinOps solution helps enterprises develop a culture of financial accountability with features, tools, and capabilities that provide predictability, prevent budget overruns, and promote data-driven business decisions.
