Evup delivers intelligent solutions backed by Microsoft tools

Evup works with a focus on providing solutions to management, control, and business-related demands with intelligent systems, cutting-edge tools, and skilled staff. 

Founded in 2018, the company specializes in developing technology solutions has been growing month by month. Currently, its system operates in approximately 600 business units, including Argentina and Colombia, and has two allies in Microsoft and partner company Brasoftware on this market transformation journey. 

From service application to infrastructure as code

In the beginning, meeting a demand from a beauty client, the Evup team developed a web application. Over time, with new customers and new needs, the company's team started to create new environments and use new functions, and currently has 100 applications and functions, in addition to its environments in development and approval.

"Every day new environments are developed," says Cloud Architect Dennis Di Martini. To streamline work and give customers quick responses, Evup has developed an automation system for developers with Microsoft Azure cloud support and use of Azure DevOps, a cloud service for collaboration and system development.

"We created an automation system where the developer who needs a new environment to test an application on Azure does not influence other environments being used. He logs in, fills in little information that goes to Azure DevOps, and builds the application; permissions already deploy and build the full developer environment in ten minutes," he says.

Evup was able to exchange an entire workflow, with cost approval, equipment procurement, maintenance, and more, for a fast, automated process. In this process, the next step is to raise the level of automation in this environment, with the ability to launching 12 applications in 15 minutes, with identities created in Azure Active Directory, Microsoft's cloud-based identity and access management service, and configurations stored in Azure Key Vault, which protects cryptographic keys and other secrets used by applications and services in the cloud.

The company also has a mobile application that functions as a customer service at ASP.NET, a web framework for creating websites and web applications, and utilizes the Azure SQL Database, which functions through the Service Bus cloud messenger service and is orchestrated by Azure Functions.

Internal architecture

This entire process is supported by partner Brasoftware, and most Evup systems are on Microsoft, such as Microsoft Outlook as an email service, Microsoft Teams for internal communication and collaboration, and Azure DevOps for application creation and development.

Most recently, the company implemented Power Automate for simple integrations, such as Microsoft 365's collaborative enterprise social network Yammer with Microsoft Teams.

"Whenever we can, we use Microsoft. Integrations between tools really help our work, we have active and integrated monitoring in Teams and all this flow is being created thanks to the various Azure DevOps functionalities," celebrates Dennis.

"We like living in PaaS"

Vitor Hervatin, co-founder of Evup, says that the implementation of all these tools has accelerated the company's delivery. "Before, when we needed an environment of any kind, there was all the work to create – which we reduced dramatically with the new architecture. Due to some product evolution issues and needs, we embraced this work as a whole and began to develop a system with the complexity we have today," he assesses.

Paulo Morais, CEO of Espaçolaser, believes the partnership with Evup is very important to his company. "Evup has been an indispensable partner for Espaçolaser. A partnership capable of predicting trends and advances in the digital world. Our companies continue to have strong connections of purpose," he says.

Elder Trivelato, Cloud and Infrastructure Coordinator, says that after years of working with on-premises structures, when starting Evup projects, he suggested moving to a physical infrastructure, because "we like living in PaaS." 

"This started as a joke, but the platform really allows us to work on what you need in your business, while Microsoft takes care of the cloud, infrastructure, operating system, and network; taking advantage of the ambiguity, that slogan came up," he says.

The structure gave the company simplicity, allowing it to scale machines more easily, and automation, which prevented possible human error, as well as availability. In terms of cost, Evup also sees advantages in using the cloud. "The on-premises database has equipment depreciation and needs experts; my connection is with Microsoft that brings guarantees, and the cost is diluted in that," he points out.

The company is still constantly evolving and developing more applications according to the demands of its customers, always supported by Microsoft and Brasoftware. According to Vitor, analysis and study is constant: "We always review what we are using today to support all this growth that is happening gradually; solving some issues today, we will not suffer tomorrow," he concludes.
