Driving innovation in human-computer interaction and context sensing, from pioneering telepresence and inventing text-to-animation before AI video existed, to delivering pen and touch technologies now deployed across millions of Surface devices worldwide.
For over 25 years, I have been inventing, prototyping, and shipping breakthrough interactive experiences at Microsoft Research. My work sits at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and AI—where research ideas become real products used by millions. I combine deep technical expertise in hardware and software with relentless curiosity and rapid prototyping to turn bold ideas into working systems, often years before they enter the mainstream.
I hold a Ph.D. in parallel computing from EPFL (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (opens in new tab) in Lausanne)—the same lab that gave rise to Logitech—where my work received multiple industry awards including the prestigious Logitech Prize and the ABB Prize for industrially-oriented innovation.
